November 12, 2023
“And Love we found, and peace, where Fire and War had been,” writes Robert Louis Stevenson in the final movement of Jonathan Santore’s Armistice Poems. Our November concert is in two parts. The first half examines writings on war, peace, and the personal struggle that soldiers, families, and communities grapple with during conflict. The texts come from wars spanning American history, which prompt questions about the necessity of violence. The second half of the concert will be the complete Duruflé Requiem for choir and organ, a sublime meditation that features the choir beautifully throughout.
